Just when we thought we were almost there we get an ominous email from Canadian Immigration querying Ian's qualifications.
They mention an organisation called Association of Scientific Engineers and Technologists of Alberta (ASET) ?? Is he qualified to register with them. We have never heard of them, Ian's new boss has never heard of them!
Several frantic emails and calls to Canada later seems that Ian's qualifications will enable him to register for ASET upon arrival into Canada.
Letter sent pronto back to Canadian High Commission so now we sit back and wait (yet again). Ian's start date of 17th November looking a tad unlikely at this stage. But the upside is it gives him another week at home clearing out all his stuff from workshop and garage.

Still waiting for work permit
Week Five
And we are still waiting for the arrival of the infamous Temporary Work Permit from the Canadian High Commission in London.
Ian finishes his current job this Friday and then into the abyss. This means that he will have no excuse with regard to clearing out his workshop and doing numerous trips to the local tip!
The thermals have arrived care of Damart so all we need now is a work permit!
Beers and Minstrels are being lined up with Eamonn O'Gorman who has been a total star banana in answering our many and no doubt trivial questions. Let's hope that Ian get the Minstrels past customs on the way out! See all Eamonn's news via:
